Matters used in body jewellery

TITANIUM: The body
tolerates titanium as it is nickel-free (90%
titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium). Titanium is recommended
for people with allergiesespecially allergies to nickel. It is a lightweight
material that allows for better healing.
SURGICAL STEEL 316L: It is the most common material used in body
jewellery. It is also well tolerated by our body
and it is quite cheap.
SILVER: Silver is not really recommended for barbells and bars. This matter is not hypoallergenic
and oxidize rapidly. However, silver can be used for body jewellery accessories and tips.
NIOBIUM: Niobium is a
silvery metal heavier than titanium. It is more expensive because it is less common on
the market.
BLACK LINE: Black
line is basicly titanium covered with a
black layer of pigment.
PTFE (or Teflon): Flexible plastic matter, well tolerated by our body, it is often
used for piercings for pregnant women (retainers)
(invisible piercings) and those with allergies to metals.
Bioplastics: flexible
plastic matter causing no allergy. tongue bars.
Acrylic: Acrylic is a
form of plastic, well tolerated by the body. Available in several
colours, it can react to UV (ultraviolet) under black
lights (club lighting).
Horn, bone, wood, amber:
Materials from ethnic tribes, used for example in tribal navel jewellery.
